Sketchbook - 2017

This is an old one, I almost forgot I had it. Buckle up, this one is weird and just straight up ass.
It contains everything from short rants to unused PoP concepts.
This was a "doodle book", which I used for practicing my pen confidence. I wanted to draw more traditionally and feel more comfortable with drawing without sketching first.
I tried to not take it too seriously but it was really hard at times! Especially back then.
I started it in 2017, back then my webcomic Park of Plutonia took up a lot of my free time,
so a lot of the drawings reflect that. But I ended up forgetting about it, and lost interest in drawing traditionally in general. Every now and then
I came back and drew one page, then forgot again. Then the pandemic came. Work became remote and I needed to do something while I was sitting in those boring online
meetings all day. That's when I remembered I had this bad boy, and I began to doodle in it. Its imperfectness is what made it the perfect work-doodle-candidate.
This one also has some good ol' journal qualities in it. There are some sentences where I reflect on my relationship to art,
but also about work, and coping with everyday emotions.
Just like life, this sketchbook is imperfect, and I wanted to share this one online just to show you that a real sketchbook can look like.
Social media shows us all of these amazing sketchbooks with polished pieces, but sometimes you just need a fucking doodlebook that is straight up ass.
